The redesigned 2010 Prius hybrid goes on sale in late May at a base price of $22,750, including freight. Later this year, a stripped-down base model will go on sale for $21,750, including shipping.

The third-generation Prius comes with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine producing 98 hp. The horsepower increases to 134 with the electric motor, up from a combined 110 hp for the current model.

The Prius comes in five trim levels. Standard equipment on all models includes vehicle stability control and traction control and antilock brakes. The $22,750 trim adds standard features such as push-button start, a six-speaker stereo system, six-way adjustable driver's seat and seven airbags, including a driver's knee airbag.

The most expensive trim level, at $28,020 including shipping, includes Bluetooth, heated front seats, an eight-speaker JBL system and 17-inch alloy wheels.
